What is the "go to" trading platform for futures options? Already using TD for SPY options, should I stick with TD or try something like ninja trader? I will start in the simulator, but I would like to learn on what I will be using long term. Any input is greatly appreciated.
I don't have access to emini trading through Fidelity. Is there a decent proxy, such as SPLG or, for really big anticipated downward moves, SPXS? As a beginner it's difficult to understand how to execute on the levels in the scenarios. I'd very much appreciate any tips anyone can share. Just buy or short? Try to get in and out of options quickly (this sounds like disaster waiting to happen for a newbie)? I'll use small amounts of my portfolio as I learn.
IB is the Initial Balance 1st hr of trading... as a intra day trader/scalper I use SPY in reference to SPX/ES. For instance at ES 4148 today I loaded SPY 426p 8/31 at .69 and sold at 1.2 just before the 4200 test. I believe the ratio from SPX to SPY is like 10.01% . I too started trading small to get the hang of it all. Hope this helps!
Thank you so much for the response! Just to make sure I understand, when ES hit 4148 today, what was around 9:30 AM, you bought August 31 SPY $426 puts. When you saw ES get close to 4200 (around what, 3:45?), you sold. Your purchase price was .69 ($69) and your sell price was 1.2 ($120).
If you don't mind another question, how did you know to trigger that from the targets for today? Scenario 1 was open or bid above 4170 with Tesla above $910 (roughly $303 post-split). Scenario 2 was open below 4160 and a target down to 4090. It's been a long day, so my question may not be very coherent, but how did you know to choose that particular option?
I'm still a babe in the woods here, so any thoughts that you or anyone else can share are greatly appreciated!
Okay, that helps so much. So you chose the 8/31 $426 call because the market was rising (from 4148 to near 4200), which made the value of the call increase? Thanks again!
Yes I consider these intraday scalps as they work lovely if the levels find their support/resistance. Works same way on puts. You just have to be aware where there may be bears or bulls according to your trade. On Spy Im looking 2-3 days ahead expiration and mostly take these scalps as hedges
4130 was a key level, never ceases to amaze me how accurate this can be. Ty
Are there any other swing traders here (weeks to month timeframe) on $SPX, E-Mini . Curious how ya'll are positioning, factoring in all of TicToc's order flow info ..
How do we check Tic Top value. Letter always speak about verifying again Tic Top ~1 or ~2 but having hard time how to check this. Can someone pls guide
No worries. Also note that a link to his original Tic Top post is there as well, and you can read some useful comments from people trying different methods.
Appreciated your levels today as they were spot on! Wondering: any chance to get some midday updates? I ask because scenario 1 clearly played out today, but when we were headed down, was wondering what you were seeing and if we were going to get support at 4130 (which we did), or if that would lead to scenario 2. Would just love to hear your thoughts. But maybe this will come with the private Twitter feed. Thanks!
This seems to come up a lot with new folks to the scene in here. I highly recommend reading every single post Tic has made in the archives, especially the volume profile and market internals. Tic is not going to give you an execution strategy. It's not an alert service. Be patient with yourself while you learn! Give yourself ample time to learn. Trading is a journey and has no destination. Every day you make up and start another journey. Best of luck! :)
Dave, I have been trading for a long time. I'm a price action trader. I have never used Order Flow or Bid / Ask in my trading decisions. I do not need Tic to tell me when to buy or sell. I think it would be helpful if Tic could send a telegram a couple times a day around his key levels and what is happening with the Order Flow. I would benefit knowing that versus knowing California's population and growth rate. Do you happen to know the exact software Tic is using to analyze the Order Flow. I may have to invest in getting what he is using. Thanks.
I was wondering where the newsletter was but i'm glad you managed to squeeze it out. On a side note, I noticed a few days ago you ran a poll on here about whether the market was going to be green or red the following day and thought that was pretty fun and would love to see that added. I believe over 1000 people answered so it definitely garnered a lot of interest and studies have shown large groups can actually make surprisingly accurate predictions.
Hi Tic, great levels and wall of 4190 and 4160.
Yesterday it was 4130-4145-4160
Exploration of 4090 pending. Thank you.

Also, a terminology question: What is IB?

Imho today was it was a reactionary move to how the market took the GDP numbers, I also expected the 4200 test scenario
Im sorry I meant (c) for calls

Ok just checked, Limit set at .69, filled .68 at 9:36am then I set a 1.2 Stop loss and got me out at 3.47pm It closed at 1.3 =)

When you say Tic Top below negative 2, what time frame are you looking at?
I'm excited for TSLA 303.33 LIS

You will have to see what method works for your trading platform but see his prior post here:

Will check. Thanks for reply. I was not sure how to check value of this indicator as I didn’t see any with this name. Will see above post

TSLA stock split was done, so we need to divide the price by 3.
My question is : is there anything we need to consider? any effect of the stock split?
Good morning and thank you. Seems scenario 1 already playing out in globex
Thank you tic
Thanks a lot Big Cat

LB - His orderflow charts are from ninjatrader. I trade on NT and find it's easy to line up with Tic. All the best,
Dave
I second this and highly recommend reading everything twice. Thanks Tic!
Michael, I am with you on having several comments from Tic during the day. This would be very helpful.
Thanks for the guide lines Mr. Tic, and the Cameco corp fyi.

TSLA is splitting before open, right? So, watch for 303 level?
Thank you! What do you think of this China stimulus once again and rate cuts? Do you think China stocks were due for a bounce?
